Visual Fields Testing
A visual fields test is where the patient responds to flickers of light by pressing a button, this tests the functioning of the visual pathway from the retina in the eye right through to the visual cortex at the back of the brain. This creates a map of the patient’s vision in each eye allowing vision loss to be documented and monitored. The type or pattern of any losses also aides in the diagnosis of the patient’s condition.
This test is primarily used in Glaucoma or in assessment of patients with neurological conditions such as stroke.
